What the What? We should totally be able to beat a 1 year $1.7M deal for a guy who was a great fit for our team. We actually paid John Moore more then that last year.
WE HAVE OVER $23 MILLION IN CAP SPACE. |

Doesn't make sense for Maroon to take a discount. This is his one shot to make some real money. Don't waste it.
Can't he just bribe is old gf and get her to move wherever he ends up playing? |

Blues are offering 1.7m and a chance to play in front of his hometown fans. All Devils can offer is money, so it's not a question of if they can beat 1.7m; it's can they beat 1.7m by enough to offset having to live and play in New Jersey. |

You think he really gives a crap who's sitting in the stands clapping? It's not about the fans. Home certainly has it's own appeal and that's certainly real. NY City has it's charms as well.
But besides more money, which he deserves NJ can up the term. Two years is better then one. |

It isn't always just about money. I believe he has a son that lives here in St Louis and that is a big factor in him wanting to play for the Blues.
Seems like his agent is pushing him to take more money elsewhere, if he was really about to sign a 1 year deal for 1.7. And supposedly they would be doing an extension in January. But there is a lot of time between now and then, so that isn't guaranteed. So his agent is probably pushing him to not do that without more guaranteed. |

If the decision was this clear cut you'd think he'd be signed already. He's allowed to make his own decisions. |

Yeah, some people do want to play for their hometown team, even if it means less money.
Playing in front of family, being around a kid more is a big deal. I won't be mad if he goes elsewhere for more money. But it is not always worth it to chase more money when you have a situation that is right for you at home. |

That would be a crazy risk for him to take a one year deal at 1.7. He had offseason surgery why risk getting hurt on a one year peanut deal like that |

But the teams are being cautious too look at Horton Clarkson Pronger to name a few guys that got hurt after signing huge contracts
Teams want to see him healthy again too |

If he is healthy and plays like he has the last 2 years, he can probably find a 3m+ for 4 year deal next offseason. Taking a 2m for 2 years deal now could be considered equally as crazy. |

I didn't say playing at home didn't have it's appeal but that's primarily because of family, not because the fans are any different. In JT's case home happens to be in one the greatest hockey market in the world and he's coming from one of the most dysfunctional franchises of the last two decades. |

Then use Parise as an analogy. We were coming off of a cup finals and offered the same contract/money as the Wild, who sucked. These guys are allowed to have choices. |

Ahhh yes how awful NJ is to live in! I'd tell you to move here and see what it's like, but you probably couldn't afford to. |

He certainly can do whatever he wants. I'm pretty sure he'd rather play at home then in Newark, but he should be able to make a lot more and get more term then what they offered. We plunked down $ 5.5M over two years for Boyle and I think Maroon is worth more. |

Shero isn't retarded and only matching what the Blues are offering. The decision is on Maroon, that's it. |

Im sure shady poop is going on in Toronto with Scotia bank and Leafs. Its no wonder Dubas thinks he can fit everyone in that cap.
JT took less but im sure will also have plenty more deposited in his account magically. |

Maroon literally said he had family in jersey and spent a lot of summers there so im not sure why someone would state he wouldnt want to play here when he also said he loved it and hoped he could work something out to stay. He had also played on teams with Hall, vatanen and palms previous so there where guys there he was familiar with. I think its as good a fit as there is for Maroon. |
